LEONA LEWIS ANNOUNCES FIRST STUDIO ALBUM IN OVER 10 YEARS

Leona Lewis has announced she is preparing to release her first studio album in more than a decade, marking a major new chapter in her music career.

The Grammy-nominated singer and former X Factor winner, who rose to global fame in 2006, has revealed that she has been quietly working behind the scenes on new material for several years. The as-yet-untitled album will be her first full-length release since I Am in 2015 and is expected to arrive sometime next year.

The news comes as Leona continues to enjoy huge success with her Christmas-themed Las Vegas residency, where she is currently performing a festive set combining tracks from her Christmas album with her biggest chart hits. Audiences have been treated to live performances of Run, Bleeding Love and her modern festive classic One More Sleep, which has become a staple of Christmas playlists across the UK.

While fans have continued to enjoy Leona’s live performances and seasonal releases, the singer has largely stepped back from the spotlight in recent years, making the announcement of a brand-new album all the more exciting.

Speaking about the project, Leona revealed that the album has been a true passion project and one that has seen her take on an entirely new role in the creative process. Rather than working with a team of high-profile producers, she has chosen to write, produce and perform much of the music herself.

“I’ve actually been in and out of the studio for the past couple of years,” she said in an interview with The Sun. “It’s been a real labour of love, and I’m planning to share music next year.”

For an artist who has previously worked with some of the biggest names in the music industry, the decision to go it alone marks a significant shift. Leona explained earlier this year that taking on full creative responsibility was “new territory” for her, but one that ultimately allowed her complete artistic freedom.

“It means that it’s very unfiltered,” she said. “It’s very raw.”

The singer has also spoken openly about how motherhood has influenced the direction and emotional depth of her new music. Leona welcomed her daughter in 2022 and has described the experience as life-changing.

“Before the birth of my daughter, I did not know the depth of love,” she admitted, a sentiment that is expected to be reflected throughout the album’s themes and lyrics.

Leona Lewis first captured the nation’s attention when she won The X Factor in 2006, going on to achieve phenomenal success both in the UK and internationally. Her debut single Bleeding Love topped charts around the world and remains one of the UK’s best-selling singles of all time. She followed this with a string of hit albums and singles, earning multiple Brit Award nominations and global acclaim for her powerful vocals.

In recent years, Leona has focused on family life, wellness projects and live performances, carefully choosing when to release new material. Her decision to step back from mainstream pop trends and instead create a deeply personal, self-produced album suggests a more mature and reflective sound.

Fans have already taken to social media to express their excitement, praising the singer for prioritising authenticity and creative independence. Many have welcomed the idea of hearing a more stripped-back, emotionally driven Leona, particularly after such a long wait for new music.

While no official release date has yet been confirmed, Leona’s comments suggest that new music will arrive in 2026. With her return to the studio now firmly underway and her confidence as an independent creator growing, anticipation is building for what promises to be one of her most personal projects to date.

After more than ten years away from releasing a full studio album, Leona Lewis is ready to let fans hear a new side of her, raw, honest and entirely on her own terms.
