Rock and roll icon Alice Cooper has revealed that he’s got his sights set on The Simpsons, saying he would “absolutely” love to lend his voice to the legendary animated sitcom.
The shock-rock pioneer made the comments during a new interview with the Grammys, reflecting on his past TV appearances and his wish list for the future. While Cooper has already made a memorable cameo on rival animated series Family Guy, he says The Simpsons holds a special place in his heart.
“Oh yeah, absolutely. When The Simpsons came out, they were totally unique. It was really, really funny. I really admired what they were doing,” Cooper said.
Cooper is no stranger to comedy cameos. Fans will remember his cult appearance alongside Mike Myers in the 1992 comedy classic Wayne’s World, as well as guest roles on Amy Poehler’s animated show Duncanville and, of course, his now-legendary turn on The Muppet Show back in 1978.

That Muppets appearance remains one of Cooper’s favourite career moments. At the time, he was told the guest list had recently included horror icons Christopher Lee and Vincent Price, a detail that instantly convinced him to sign up.
“I loved the show, it was a very funny show, very clever,” he said. “They said, Christopher Lee and Vincent Price had done it, and I went, ‘I’m in!’ If those guys can do The Muppets … I haven’t earned the pedigree that those guys have, so I will definitely do it.”
That one-off appearance became a surprising turning point in his career.
“That ended up being the reference point to an entire generation, me doing The Muppet Show,” he recalled. “It’s amazing, to this day people go, ‘I discovered you on The Muppet Show, and after that I went and got all your albums.’”
While Cooper didn’t confirm whether any talks with The Simpsons creators have taken place, his enthusiasm for the idea is clear. Given the show’s track record of featuring music legends, from Paul McCartney to The Rolling Stones, it’s not hard to imagine the Godfather of Shock Rock taking his place alongside Springfield’s most famous residents.
And for fans, it would be another unforgettable addition to a career that has effortlessly blended music, theatre, and pop culture for more than five decades.
