BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN: THE BOSS SENDS JEREMY ALLEN WHITE A GUITAR

Jeremy Allen White has revealed that he learned to play Bruce Springsteen’s music on a guitar sent to him personally by The Boss himself. The Bear star is stepping into the shoes of the rock legend for the upcoming biopic Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere, and he’s been getting some very special support from the man he’s portraying.

The film focuses on Springsteen’s mental health struggles and the creation of his seminal 1982 album Nebraska, a raw, stripped-back record that defined a turning point in his career. It will explore the deeply personal stories behind the music, his creative isolation, and how the album helped shape the future of his artistry.

During a recent fan Q&A event hosted by Spotify, both Springsteen and White sat down to discuss the film, their creative process, and the powerful connection between the artist and the actor bringing him to life. White, 33, was asked whether he’d kept up with learning the guitar since wrapping production, and his answer revealed just how much thought Springsteen had put into helping him prepare.

“No,” White admitted with a laugh. “I mean, it’s a beautiful guitar. It’s a shame, you know. I do pick it up every once in a while. I think I learned on about the nicest guitar anybody’s ever learned to play the guitar on. Bruce sent me a really beautiful guitar, a 1955 Gibson J200, which was the closest model to the guitar that Springsteen played.”

The actor described how receiving the instrument directly from Bruce Springsteen was both humbling and surreal. “It’s not every day The Boss sends you a guitar,” he joked. “I couldn’t believe it when I opened the case. It’s something I’ll keep forever.”

The 1955 Gibson J200 is a collector’s dream, one of the most iconic acoustic guitars in music history, famously used by artists like Elvis Presley and Bob Dylan. Springsteen’s personal connection to the model makes it even more meaningful, as it closely mirrors the instrument he used during the Nebraska recording sessions.

Sources close to the production say that Springsteen was deeply involved in the film, offering notes on the script and consulting with White during pre-production. It’s said that he wanted the portrayal to be as authentic as possible, not just in performance but in spirit. “Jeremy really captured something special,” one insider said. “Bruce could see how much respect he had for the music, and gifting the guitar was his way of saying, ‘You’re the right guy for this.’”

White, who won widespread acclaim for his role as troubled chef Carmy in The Bear, has been widely praised for his emotional range and intensity, qualities that will no doubt serve him well in portraying Springsteen’s creative journey.

Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere is set to offer fans a raw, emotional look behind the curtain of one of music’s most personal albums. Early reactions from industry insiders suggest it could be one of the standout biopics of the decade.
