Brad Pitt has become the latest celebrity victim of Hollywood’s burglary wave after thieves broke into his luxury mansion in Los Angeles while he was overseas promoting his upcoming F1 film.
The shocking incident occurred at around 10:30pm on Wednesday night, with the Los Angeles Police Department responding swiftly to reports of a break-in at Pitt’s property in the exclusive Los Feliz neighbourhood. Officers arrived to find signs of forced entry and evidence that the house had been ransacked.
According to LAPD sources, burglars scaled the perimeter fence of the estate before gaining access to the home. A number of personal items belonging to the 60-year-old actor were reportedly stolen, although police have not yet confirmed the full extent or value of the missing property.
The break-in happened while Brad Pitt is in the UK on a promotional tour for his new high-octane racing movie based on the world of Formula 1. The film has been generating major buzz in both Hollywood and motorsport circles, with Pitt playing a retired driver making a comeback.
This incident is the latest in a string of high-profile burglaries targeting the homes of major stars. Earlier this year, Nicole Kidman’s residence was also ransacked by thieves. In August 2024, long-time couple Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson fell victim to a similar crime at their Pacific Palisades home. British pop star Jessie J also made headlines when $20,000 worth of jewellery was stolen from her property.
With more A-listers being targeted, security concerns are once again at the forefront for Hollywood’s elite. A source close to Pitt said the actor is “deeply disturbed” by the break-in and is “thankful no one was home at the time.”
Investigators said the thieves climbed over Pitt's front fence and broke into the home, taking property. The value of the items are not known at this time
The LAPD has launched a full-scale investigation and is urging anyone with information to come forward. Surveillance footage from nearby properties is currently being reviewed as detectives work to identify the suspects.
Brad Pitt has yet to make a public statement regarding the break-in, but fans around the world are expressing their support on social media, with many calling for tighter security for stars whose homes are left vulnerable during overseas commitments.
