Cardi B made headlines in Los Angeles this week after hurling a pen at a reporter outside court, just moments after she was cleared of assault charges.
The Grammy-winning rapper, 32, had been facing a $24 million lawsuit filed by a former security guard who alleged she injured him in a so-called “fingernail attack.” After a lengthy trial, the jury ruled in Cardi’s favour, dismissing the case and clearing her of any wrongdoing.
But celebrations quickly gave way to controversy when reporters gathered outside the courthouse to hear her statement. While addressing the media, one journalist shouted a question about ongoing pregnancy rumours, referencing Cardi’s divorce from fellow rapper Offset and her reported new relationship with NFL star Stefon Diggs.
According to viral footage shared widely online, the reporter asked: “Cardi, insiders are claiming that Offset is publicly bragging about getting you pregnant for the fourth time. Do you foresee any paternity issues with Stefon Diggs?”
Visibly irritated, Cardi snatched a pen from another journalist standing nearby and launched it in the direction of the reporter. “Stop disrespecting me,” she yelled, before repeating: “Don’t disrespect me.”
The clip has since been viewed millions of times across social media platforms, with fans and critics divided over Cardi’s response. Supporters argue that the line of questioning was invasive and inappropriate, particularly as it was raised immediately after a stressful court case. Others, however, say her behaviour toward the press will only fuel further controversy.
Cardi B, known for her outspoken personality and fiery reactions, has never shied away from confrontation. She has previously defended herself against speculation about her private life, insisting that constant rumours about her marriage and family plans take a toll.

Reports have since linked her romantically to Buffalo Bills wide receiver Stefon Diggs, though neither Cardi nor Diggs has officially confirmed their relationship.
