It’s official, Chappell Roan will induct Cyndi Lauper into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame next weekend, honouring the music icon’s legendary career with a special live performance.
The ceremony, set to take place in Los Angeles, California, will see Lauper join a star-studded class of 2025 inductees that includes The White Stripes, OutKast, Soundgarden, Joe Cocker, and Bad Company.
The announcement has delighted fans of both Lauper and Roan, with many calling it a “full-circle moment” for the Hot To Go! singer, who has often cited Lauper as one of her biggest inspirations.

Chappell, whose theatrical pop style and bold stage persona have drawn comparisons to Lauper’s 1980s heyday, is expected to deliver a heartfelt speech before performing one of Cyndi’s most beloved hits live at the event.
A statement from the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame organisers said:
“Chappell Roan’s artistry captures the same fearless individuality and vibrant spirit that Cyndi Lauper brought to pop music. It’s only fitting that one of today’s most original performers inducts one of the most iconic trailblazers of all time.”
Lauper, now 72, is one of the most influential female artists of the 20th century, known for her distinctive voice, eccentric style, and timeless hits including Time After Time, True Colors, and Girls Just Want to Have Fun.
Her induction into the Rock Hall follows a career spanning over four decades, with achievements that include multiple Grammy, Emmy, and Tony Awards, as well as tireless advocacy for LGBTQ+ rights and women’s empowerment.
In July, Lauper completed her final tour, which ended with an emotional performance in New York City. Reflecting on her retirement from touring, she told fans:
“I’m not saying goodbye, I’m saying thank you. Thank you for dancing, for singing, and for growing with me through the years.”
Roan’s involvement in the ceremony is a powerful nod to the generational impact of Lauper’s music. The 26-year-old breakout star has become known for her own unapologetic performances, theatrical visuals, and inclusive message, much like Lauper when she first burst onto the scene in the early 1980s.
In interviews, Chappell has described Lauper as “the blueprint” for fearless female pop artists:
“She was doing drag before drag was mainstream, she was loud, she was camp, and she was completely herself, that’s everything I aspire to be.”
Fans can expect the induction to be an emotional highlight of the night, with Lauper set to deliver her acceptance speech surrounded by peers, friends, and the next generation of artists she helped inspire.
The 2025 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will take place next Saturday, November 8, in Los Angeles, and will stream live on Disney+ before airing as a highlights special on ABC the following week.
As one era ends and another begins, it feels entirely fitting that Chappell Roan, one of today’s brightest new stars, will be the one to officially welcome Cyndi Lauper into rock’s most prestigious club.
