Beloved singer Daniel O’Donnell has confirmed that he is winding down his official fan club after decades of loyal support, but has reassured fans that he is not retiring from music.
The 62-year-old Donegal crooner revealed that the fan club, which has been running for more than 30 years, will officially close its doors at the end of 2025. The final edition of his long-running magazine will be distributed to members worldwide this December, marking the end of an era for the country music star.
The decision comes after Daniel recently announced he would be taking a lengthy break from touring to focus on his health and spend time at home with family.
Speaking about the change, Daniel told fans:
“I want to thank everyone who has been part of the fan club over the years, you’ve been such a huge support to me throughout my career. This is not goodbye, it’s simply a pause while I take some time out. I will be back on the road when I’m ready.”
The fan club, which first launched in the late 1980s, became a lifeline for Daniel’s global fanbase, keeping them updated with personal letters, behind-the-scenes stories, exclusive photos, and news about concerts and album releases.
For many fans, the magazine was a cherished connection to their favourite artist, arriving faithfully every few months and often including handwritten notes from Daniel himself.
News of the closure has sparked an emotional reaction from fans, many of whom took to social media to share memories of meeting the singer through fan club events and thanking him for decades of dedication to his supporters.
“I’ve been a member for 25 years and I’ll treasure every magazine,” one fan wrote. “We’ll miss the updates but wish Daniel nothing but the best for his well-deserved rest.”
Another added: “It’s been such a joy to be part of the fan club. Daniel has always made his fans feel like friends.”
Daniel has emphasised that this is simply a new chapter rather than the end of the story. He has confirmed that he will continue to share updates through social media and his official website, and that he plans to return to live performing once he feels ready.
With over four decades in the music industry, countless hit albums, and a reputation as one of Ireland’s most beloved entertainers, Daniel’s career shows no signs of stopping, just slowing down for now.
