Doja Cat Teases ’80s-Inspired Track ‘Jealous Type’

Doja Cat is back in her teaser era, and fans are living for it. Over the weekend, the genre-bending star dropped a 30-second snippet of a brand-new track called Jealous Type during an Instagram Live, and it’s dripping with shimmery ‘80s-inspired pop energy.

The clip reveals a pulsing synth-pop soundscape, complete with nostalgic production and emotionally charged lyrics. Doja sings:

“Boy, let me know if this is careless
I could be torn between two roads that I just can’t decide
Which one is leading me to hell or paradise?
Baby, I can’t hurt you, sure
But I’m the jealous type.”

She later confirmed the lyrics herself in a post on X (formerly Twitter), alongside more lines that hint at a complex emotional theme:

“He loves me / But he can’t hold this above me / When my eyes are green I’m ugly / You’re vain and…”

Fans are already calling it a sonic shift reminiscent of Scarlet’s deeper cuts, but with a fresh, retro edge that’s got them excited for what’s next.

Adding fuel to the hype, Doja also tweeted out a potential 16-song tracklist for her upcoming album. Titles include Kink, Lipstain, Gorgeous, and Couples Therapy. Notably absent is Crack, a track she previously teased in November, prompting her to caption the new list with a cheeky: “Don’t ask me where crack is rn.”

So far, there's been no official confirmation about the album’s release date or final content, but it’s clear something big is brewing.

In the meantime, Doja recently teamed up with Jack Harlow for Just Us, a star-studded collaboration featuring cameos from Matt Damon, John Mayer, PinkPantheress, and Succession’s Nicholas Braun in the music video.

Her last album, Scarlet, dropped in 2023 and earned mixed but intrigued reviews, with NME describing it as “an overlong, slightly repetitive but ultimately compelling album of two halves.”

She also turned heads at the Oscars in March, performing Diamonds Are Forever as part of a James Bond medley, later admitting she was nervous and “hit some flats.”

With Jealous Type already capturing attention, fans are now counting down the days until Doja officially enters her next era. And if the teaser is anything to go by, we’re in for a glittery, emotionally raw, synth-fueled ride.
