Global superstar Ed Sheeran might be one of the most famous musicians on the planet, but when it comes to celebrating with friends, he loves to keep things low-key, and very British.
The chart-topping singer has revealed that one of his favourite recent holidays was a weekend away at Butlin’s Minehead resort, not for work, but as part of a wild stag do for one of his closest friends.
Speaking about the trip, Ed said he went all-in for the occasion, even going incognito in a clever disguise.
“For my mate Doug's stag, we went to Butlin’s. It was an Eighties-themed weekender and we saw tribute bands Pearl Scam and Metal Militia,” Ed revealed.
In true party spirit, Ed decided to go undercover so he could enjoy himself without attracting too much attention.
“I dressed up as Roy Wood from Wizzard and I had this big beard, long white hair and sunglasses. And I was off my nut. It was great. Butlin’s goes hard. I love it. I never thought I’d go to Butlin’s. Then, when I was there, I was like, ‘I need to come here more often, this is f***ing awesome’.”
Fans were delighted to hear that the multi-millionaire singer, who usually plays sold-out stadium tours around the world, is just as happy letting loose at a budget-friendly British holiday park.

Butlin’s Minehead, located in Somerset, is famous for its themed adult weekends, which feature everything from ‘80s and ‘90s throwback events to tribute acts for some of the biggest bands in history.
Ed even hinted that he would love to go back for another party weekend, and he’s already got a theme in mind.
“I’d love to see a Nineties weekender,” he added.
The confession is the latest in a long line of refreshingly down-to-earth revelations from Ed, who is known for staying close to his roots despite his international fame. The singer often uses his downtime to spend time with childhood friends and family, and it seems that a Butlin’s weekend is now firmly on his list of favourite escapes.
Fans have taken to social media to praise Ed for embracing the nostalgia of Butlin’s and showing that you don’t need a luxury private island getaway to have a good time. Many have even joked that they’ll be keeping an eye out for him at the next tribute band festival.
With Sheeran currently on a break from touring, who knows, maybe he really will pop up at a ‘90s weekend sometime soon, rocking a new disguise and ready to party all over again.
