GAZZA: FOOTBALL LEGEND RUSHED INTO INTENSIVE CARE

Football icon Paul Gascoigne has been rushed to hospital and placed in intensive care after being discovered semi-conscious in his Dorset home.

The 58-year-old former England and Newcastle United star, affectionately known to fans as Gazza, was found in his bedroom on Friday evening by close friend Steve Foster. Foster immediately called for medical help, and Gascoigne was admitted to an intensive care ward in a nearby hospital.

Fortunately, after a worrying night, his condition was stabilised and he has since been moved to an acute medical unit. He is expected to remain in hospital for several days for ongoing treatment and monitoring.

Speaking on behalf of the football legend, Steve Foster said Gazza “would like to thank everyone for the support he’s received so far from so many old friends who wish him well and want to see him back to his best”.

Friends, family and fans have flooded social media with messages of love and encouragement for the much-loved former midfielder. Gazza, who was one of the brightest stars of English football in the 1990s, has faced numerous health struggles over the years, including battles with addiction and mental health challenges.

One friend close to the family said last night: “It was a real scare for everyone, but thankfully he’s in the right place now and getting the care he needs. He’s out of danger and in good spirits considering what’s happened.”

Gazza is understood to have been in good form earlier in the week and had even been spotted chatting with locals in Poole before Friday’s incident. Those closest to him are hopeful that his recovery in hospital will give him the time and support he needs to get back on his feet once again.

Fans online have shared emotional tributes and memories of the footballing great. Many recalled his unforgettable performances in Euro 96 and his dazzling skills that made him a household name.

One post read: “No one lit up the pitch like Gazza. Hope you get better soon, mate. England still loves you.”

While details about what led to the incident remain private, his family has asked for privacy while he recovers. Foster reassured fans that Gazza is fully aware of the huge outpouring of love: “He’s so grateful for everyone’s good wishes and he really does feel the support from everyone. It means the world to him.”

Doctors are expected to review his condition later this week, but the mood among those closest to him has shifted from fear to relief.

Gazza remains a much-loved figure, not just for his genius on the football pitch but for his vulnerability and openness about his personal struggles. Fans everywhere will no doubt be wishing him a full and speedy recovery.
