Gorillaz fans, get ready for something truly special, the world’s most iconic virtual band is returning to the stage for an unmissable series of shows in London, and they’re going deep into their discography.
In a surprise announcement, Damon Albarn’s genre-bending project Gorillaz revealed they’ll be performing full albums live for the first time in years, in a string of intimate, one-off gigs at the Copper Box Arena in London. Running from August 29 to September 3, the shows are timed to coincide with the final week of their immersive “House of Kong” exhibition, which has been drawing fans into the band’s vibrant, animated universe.
With only four limited-capacity shows confirmed, these gigs promise to be among the most sought-after live events of the summer. And for longtime fans, it’s a dream come true, Gorillaz will be performing some of their early albums in full, offering a rare chance to experience the band’s genre-defying classics exactly as they were meant to be heard.
While the band hasn't officially confirmed which albums will be featured, speculation is rife that fans will be treated to 2001’s self-titled debut and the critically acclaimed 2005 follow-up Demon Days, records packed with hits like “Clint Eastwood,” “Feel Good Inc,” and “DARE.”
The shows are expected to feature both live musicians and the band’s signature animated visuals, bringing 2-D, Murdoc, Noodle, and Russel to life in a fully immersive concert experience. Given Gorillaz’s history of blending music, art, and storytelling, this is far more than a typical gig, it’s a multimedia spectacle.
The concerts will close out the successful House of Kong installation, a bold and bizarre art-meets-tech experience that has brought fans closer than ever to the band’s virtual world. Located within the same venue, the exhibition has become a hub for all things Gorillaz, featuring exclusive artwork, virtual reality segments, and behind-the-scenes access to the band’s creative process.
