GUNS N’ ROSES: SLASH TEASES NEW ALBUM

It’s been more than 15 years since Guns N’ Roses dropped their last full-length album, but according to Slash, fans might not have to wait much longer for the next one.

In a new interview with Guitar World, the iconic guitarist teased that a new Guns N’ Roses album is very much on the horizon, though, in true GNR fashion, he’s refusing to put a date on it.

“There’s so much material at this point, it’s a matter of having the discipline to sit down and f**king get into it,” Slash explained. “But the thing with Guns is, in my experience, you can never plan ahead. You can never sit down and go, ‘We’re going to take this time, and we’re going to do this.’ Every time we’ve done that, it falls apart.”

The comments have sent fans into overdrive, as the band, fronted by Axl Rose, with Slash and Duff McKagan back in the fold since 2016, haven’t released a full-length album since 2008’s Chinese Democracy. That record was infamous for its lengthy production time and lineup changes, becoming one of the most talked-about rock albums of the 21st century.

The last time Slash and McKagan appeared on a Guns N’ Roses LP was way back in 1993, on the band’s The Spaghetti Incident? a covers collection that capped off their legendary run of early albums. Since reuniting nearly a decade ago, the group have released a handful of new songs, including Absurd, Hard Skool, Precious, and The General, all of which gave a taste of classic GNR energy, but not enough to satisfy long-time fans craving a full album.

Slash hinted that things are moving in the right direction, even if the process remains unpredictable:

“It just spontaneously happens through some sort of inspiration that triggers it. And the next thing you know, it’s off and running.”

The guitarist added that while he couldn’t confirm when new music might appear, he’s confident it’s coming:

“So it’s coming. I know it’s coming because everybody is thinking about it. It’ll just happen when it happens.”

For die-hard fans, that statement alone is enough to reignite excitement for a proper new Guns N’ Roses album, something that has been a near-mythical prospect for decades.

The band’s reunion lineup has spent recent years touring the world, playing sold-out stadiums and headlining major festivals, including Glastonbury and Coachella. Their energy on stage and renewed chemistry between Axl, Slash, and Duff has convinced many that a fresh creative spark has been reignited.

With Slash now openly acknowledging that a new project is “coming,” the rock world is buzzing with anticipation. Whether it arrives next year or takes a little longer, one thing’s certain: Guns N’ Roses are far from finished.

And if history has taught fans anything, it’s that patience pays off, because when this band finally delivers, it’s always worth the wait.
