Green Day to Be Immortalised on the Hollywood Walk of Fame

Punk rock royalty Green Day are set to leave their permanent mark on Los Angeles, as the band will officially receive their own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame next week.

The announcement, shared by the band on social media, confirmed that the ceremony will take place on May 1, and fans all over the world will be able to watch the event live and for free via the official Walk of Fame website.

The trio, who exploded onto the global scene in the '90s with their brash energy and rebellious anthems, will receive the 2,810th star on the legendary strip. It will be placed at 6212 Hollywood Boulevard, right beside the iconic Amoeba Music store, a fitting location for a band whose music helped define a generation.

Green Day’s post on X (formerly Twitter) read:
“All the way from the Boulevard of Broken Dreams to Hollywood Boulevard – we’re celebrating our new star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on May 1st!!! This is going to be one to remember… come celebrate with us!”

Known for their raw sound and defiant lyrics, Green Day rose from the underground punk scene of the San Francisco Bay Area to become one of the most successful and influential rock bands in history. Their 1994 breakout album Dookie went multi-platinum, and albums like American Idiot and 21st Century Breakdown solidified their status as cultural icons.

The band, comprised of Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt, and Tré Cool, has sold over 75 million records worldwide, won five Grammy Awards, and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2015.

Now, nearly three decades since they first smashed onto the airwaves, Green Day’s name will shine permanently on the streets of Hollywood, joining fellow music legends and trailblazers in entertainment.

The star unveiling is expected to be a celebration not just of Green Day’s music, but of their influence, legacy, and enduring connection with fans old and new. Whether you’re a lifelong fan of Basket Case, Good Riddance (Time of Your Life), or Holiday, this is a punk rock moment worth tuning in for.
