KNIVES OUT 3: NETFLIX REVEALS STAR-STUDDED CAST AND RELEASE DATE

Netflix has finally confirmed the release date for the highly anticipated third instalment of the Knives Out franchise. The film, officially titled Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery, will hit select UK and Irish cinemas on November 28 before streaming globally on Netflix from December 12.

Once again, Daniel Craig reprises his role as the enigmatic southern detective Benoit Blanc, who has quickly become one of modern cinema’s most beloved sleuths. This time, Blanc finds himself unravelling a chilling case in a quiet hamlet in upstate New York.

The storyline introduces a young priest, Jud Duplenticy, played by Challengers star Josh O’Connor, who arrives to assist the ageing local cleric, Monsignor Jefferson Wicks, portrayed by Josh Brolin. But the peaceful town is soon shaken to its core when a shocking murder occurs, sending suspicion and fear rippling through the close-knit community.

Blanc is called in to investigate, teaming up with local police chief Geraldine Scott, played by Mila Kunis. Together, they must piece together the complex web of lies, secrets, and motives hiding beneath the town’s seemingly calm exterior.

As with previous films in the series, Wake Up Dead Man boasts an impressive ensemble cast. Glenn Close, Jeremy Renner, Kerry Washington, and Andrew Scott are all confirmed to play key roles, adding even more intrigue to the murder mystery. With such a line-up, fans can expect layers of twists, red herrings, and standout performances.

The Knives Out series, created by writer-director Rian Johnson, has become a modern favourite for mystery lovers, praised for its clever writing, sharp humour, and stylish storytelling. The first film, released in 2019, was both a critical and commercial success, earning Johnson an Oscar nomination for Best Original Screenplay. The 2022 follow-up, Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, brought Benoit Blanc into a whole new setting with a fresh group of suspects, cementing the franchise’s reputation for reinventing the whodunit genre.

With Wake Up Dead Man, Johnson appears to be pushing the story into darker, more gothic territory. The title alone suggests a grittier tone, one that may lean closer to classic crime thrillers than the lighter, satirical elements of its predecessors.

Speaking about the film, Johnson teased that this instalment would be Blanc’s “most dangerous and emotional case yet,” raising anticipation even higher.

The release timing, just ahead of the holiday season, is likely to make Wake Up Dead Man a major viewing event, following in the footsteps of its predecessors which became streaming hits. For fans of murder mysteries, it looks set to deliver everything they love about the franchise: suspense, humour, and plenty of shocking revelations.

Whether experienced in cinemas or curled up at home on Netflix, audiences will soon be back in the company of Benoit Blanc as he once again tries to untangle the truth from a deadly web of lies.
