LEWIS CAPALDI REVEALS EMINEM HELPS HIM SLEEP ON PLANES

Lewis Capaldi has a voice that’s soothed millions, but when it comes to soothing himself, the Scottish chart-topper turns to a somewhat unlikely source: Eminem.

In a new interview with Apple Music, the Someone You Loved star shared the curious way he gets to sleep, and it’s not what fans might expect from a man known for his tender ballads and emotional lyrics.

Capaldi, 27, revealed his sleep routine while promoting Apple’s new curated playlist series, Music That Soothes Me. While many celebrities opt for spa sounds, acoustic guitars or lo-fi chill, Capaldi proudly confessed he’s all about old-school rap when it’s time to nod off, and not just any rap.

“If I’m going to fall asleep, especially on a plane, I put on Eminem,” he said with a laugh. “I feel like it really puts me at ease.”

He added that his favourite albums to drift off to are The Marshall Mathers LP and The Eminem Show, two of the Detroit rapper’s most intense, lyrically-driven records.

“For some reason, it lulls me into a delightful little sleep,” Capaldi explained. “It’s like a bedtime story, only angrier.”

Fans might be surprised that the typically emotionally open singer-songwriter finds comfort in the fiery delivery and rapid-fire rhymes of Eminem, but Capaldi insists there’s something oddly relaxing about the familiarity and rhythm.

And Eminem isn’t the only thing that helps Capaldi catch some zzz’s. He also joked that listening to his own demos has a similar effect:

“Or I’ll put on some of my own demos, which also really knock me out,” he quipped. “Maybe it’s because I’ve heard them a thousand times already.”

Capaldi, has been refreshingly honest about the importance of self-care, including better sleep hygiene, in recent months. His openness about struggles with Tourette’s Syndrome and anxiety has won him admiration far beyond the charts.

Fans online have responded to the interview with humour and support, with one person tweeting, “Only Lewis Capaldi could fall asleep to Eminem and somehow make that feel relatable.”

Whether you prefer whale sounds or the words of Slim Shady, Capaldi’s revelation proves that winding down looks different for everyone, and sometimes the best lullaby is the one you least expect.
