LIAM PAYNE SINGS WITH FANS IN EMOTIONAL NETFLIX CLIP

Netflix has shared a heartfelt new clip from Building the Band showing Liam Payne embracing one last joyful crowd moment, singing and dancing along with fans to One Direction’s "What Makes You Beautiful." Captured during filming, the scene has since gone viral as a touching tribute to his final appearance before his untimely death in October 2024.

The reality music competition, which premiered in July 2025, features Payne as a guest judge mentoring contestants alongside Kelly Rowland and Nicole Scherzinger, with AJ McLean from the Backstreet Boys hosting. In the newly released clip, Netflix opens with “In loving memory of Liam Payne,” as a recent mock talent-show performance transitions into attendees singing What Makes You Beautiful, the debut One Direction single that catapulted the band to fame

After the performance, Payne is seen standing up from the judges' table, making his way into the audience, and passionately joining the chorus. He high-fives fans in the crowd before returning to his seat with a smile, a spontaneous and vulnerable display of connection that fans have described as “pure joy” and “one of the most humanly beautiful moments” captured on television

Payne recorded his scenes in August 2024, just two months before the tragic fall that claimed his life at age 31, a loss felt deeply by fans worldwide. His appearance on Building the Band now serves as both his final televised performance and a legacy of mentorship and music

Viewers and fans have flooded social media with emotional responses, praising the clip's raw authenticity and bittersweet tone. Many note that it captures the spirit of Payne’s career, from One Direction’s boyband roots to his evolving role as a mentor and supporter of emerging artists

Netflix’s show, which blends elements of Love Is Blind and The Voice, challenges 50 singers to form bands without ever seeing each other, relying only on musical chemistry before stepping on stage as six finalist groups competing for a $500,000 prize.
