Los Enojados Beach Clean-Up Collects 850kg of Rubbish

A community-driven beach clean-up held at Los Enojados Beach in Las Galletas organised by Canary Green, has removed an estimated 850 kilograms of rubbish, delivering a major boost to the local environment.

The event, took place on Saturday (26th April) from 10:00am to 12:00pm, and attracted enthusiastic participation from locals, expatriates and tourists alike. Volunteers arrived early and worked tirelessly, tackling not only the beach itself but also a nearby area that had become an illegal dumping ground.

Thanks to the dedication and collective effort of all involved, the beach was thoroughly cleaned and the waste collected was properly disposed of in a container provided by the Ayuntamiento de Arona.

Canary Green emphasised that the event was about more than just clearing rubbish. It served as a powerful reminder of the importance of environmental responsibility and the urgent need to reduce reliance on single-use plastics. Participants also aimed to inspire a cultural shift in attitudes towards waste and care for natural spaces.

Special thanks were extended to the Ayuntamiento de Arona for sponsoring the waste container, supplying rubbish bags, and helping to promote the event. Further support came from Cactus Co-Living, Rotaract, Iberostar Hotels and MYND Hotels, all of whom contributed to the event's success.

Organisers expressed their gratitude to everyone who took part, noting that through collective action, communities can make a real difference. Plans are already underway for the next clean-up event, with hopes of welcoming even more volunteers.
