A man has been arrested by the Guardia Civil on suspicion of killing his father in a brutal attack that took place on Wednesday afternoon in the south of Tenerife.
The incident took place in the coastal municipality of San Miguel de Abona, specifically in the area near Golf del Sur. According to sources, the suspect allegedly first stabbed the victim with a knife before hitting him over the head with a rock.
The attack took place shortly after 7:00pm in San Blas, at the mouth of a ravine separating the Golf del Sur development from the nearby village of Los Abrigos. The assault happened in a public area and was reported to authorities by witnesses to the attack.
Both the suspect and the victim are reported to be of Dutch origin. Investigators believe the suspect is homeless, residing in a cave or makeshift shelter near the scene of the incident.
The case is being investigated by the Territorial Judicial Police Team of South Tenerife, along with the Guardia Civil’s Crimes Against Persons Unit in Santa Cruz de Tenerife. Forensic experts from the Criminalistics Laboratory also attended the scene to gather evidence.
The motive behind the killing remains unclear, and investigators are working to establish the events leading up to the fatal confrontation. Authorities have not yet confirmed whether the victim was the suspect’s biological father or stepfather, although some reports suggest the latter.
The Guardia Civil continues its inquiry as the suspect remains in custody.
