Peaky Blinders Set to Return – New Series Heading to the 1950s!

The razor-sharp flat caps are coming back, Peaky Blinders is rumoured to be returning for a brand-new television series, and this time, the Shelby clan is heading into the turbulent 1950s. The surprise revival of the hit BBC crime drama is reportedly set to begin filming this summer, with a planned broadcast date in 2026.

This unexpected continuation comes after the sixth series, which many believed to be the show's swan song, concluded the saga in the 1930s. The upcoming Peaky Blinders movie, The Immortal Man, slated for release later this year, picks up the action during the Second World War. Now, in a twist that will thrill fans, the story appears to be gearing up for a new chapter set in a decade defined by post-war upheaval, social rebellion, and the rise of Britain’s most infamous gangsters.

A TV insider confirmed, “The sixth series of Peaky Blinders was supposed to be the last and the movie was meant to be the final farewell for the story. But show boss Steven Knight couldn’t resist coming back to the story, his most famous creation, and he’s been dropping hints he wanted to return to do more.”

BBC executives are keen to ride the wave of excitement expected to follow The Immortal Man, with the new series aiming to capture both loyal viewers and a new generation of fans. The 1950s setting is ripe with opportunity for fresh narratives, as Britain grappled with changing social attitudes and the emergence of new criminal empires. The decade saw the emergence of the Teddy Boys, gangs of sharply dressed youths known for their violence and swagger, as well as the early infamy of the Kray twins, who would go on to dominate East London’s underworld.

Pre-production is already underway, with casting, set design, and script development being closely guarded secrets. Still, the green light from the BBC has sent a jolt of excitement through the fanbase, which remains fiercely loyal nearly four years after the last series aired.

The new series will be broadcast on BBC One in the UK and distributed globally through Netflix, continuing the partnership that helped make Peaky Blinders a worldwide phenomenon. With a proven global audience and the enduring popularity of Cillian Murphy’s enigmatic Tommy Shelby, the return of the series is being hailed as one of the most exciting developments in British television this year.

As the Shelby empire prepares to rise once more, fans are left with just one question: what will the 1950s look like with the Peaky Blinders at the helm?
