ROSALIA: "LUX" IS MOST STREAMED ALBUM BY SPANISH SPEAKING ARTIST

Global superstar Rosalía has made streaming history once again. Her brand-new album ‘LUX’ has officially become the most streamed album in a single day by a Spanish-speaking female artist on Spotify.

The highly anticipated record, released on Friday, racked up an astonishing 42.1 million first-day streams, more than doubling the debut figures of her 2022 critically acclaimed album ‘Motomami’, which opened with 16 million.

With ‘LUX’, Rosalía cements her status as one of the most influential voices in global music today. The record, her fourth studio album, has been hailed by critics and fans alike as her most experimental and emotionally charged project yet. Blending flamenco roots with futuristic beats, electronic soundscapes, and reggaeton influences, the album showcases Rosalía’s unique ability to reinvent Latin pop while staying true to her artistic vision.

The record’s success has also dethroned the previous Spotify record-holder, Karol G, whose 2023 album ‘Mañana Será Bonito’ achieved 35.7 million streams on its opening day.

Rosalía took to Instagram to thank her fans for their overwhelming support, writing:

“I can’t believe it. 42 million streams on day one… I’m speechless. Gracias a todos los que escucharon LUX. This album is a piece of my soul, thank you for feeling it with me.”

‘LUX’ features collaborations with an impressive line-up of artists, including Bad Bunny, Rauw Alejandro, and Billie Eilish, who joins Rosalía on the haunting ballad “Nublado”. The album explores themes of love, transformation, fame, and inner light, fittingly reflected in its title.

Critics have praised the album’s bold production and intimate lyrics. Rolling Stone described it as “a masterclass in modern pop that fuses vulnerability with artistic bravery,” while Billboard called it “a cultural moment that transcends language and genre.”

Since its release, LUX has topped charts across Latin America, Spain, and much of Europe, and is quickly climbing the Billboard Global 200. In just 48 hours, the album’s lead single “Amor de Espejos” surpassed 15 million Spotify streams, and its official video has already hit over 20 million views on YouTube.

Music insiders say LUX could be Rosalía’s biggest era yet, both commercially and critically, and may set the stage for another global tour in 2026.

The Barcelona-born singer has been steadily breaking barriers since bursting onto the scene with her 2018 breakout album ‘El Mal Querer’. In the years since, she has become one of the most awarded and streamed artists in the world, winning multiple Latin Grammys and collaborating with everyone from The Weeknd to Travis Scott.

With ‘LUX’, Rosalía isn’t just dominating charts, she’s redefining what global Spanish-language music sounds like in the streaming age.
