Rumours have been swirling around Strictly Come Dancing contestant Vicky Pattison this week after she and her dance partner Kai Widdrington were noticeably absent from their scheduled Monday night appearance on Strictly: It Takes Two.
The former Geordie Shore star, who has quickly become a fan favourite this season, sparked concern among viewers after revealing that both she and Kai had been struck down by illness. The pair were due to chat with host Fleur East about their training progress and preparations for Movie Week, but just hours before the show aired, Vicky shared an update that left fans worried.
Taking to Instagram, Vicky wrote:
“Man, or should I say ‘men’, down. Huge apologies to anyone expecting to see me and Kai on It Takes Two tonight. Doing all we can to get back to our best and back to the training room asap.”
The 36-year-old reality star also posted a photo of her “recovery essentials,” including lozenges, cough syrup, ginger shots, oranges and juice, all laid out as she battled to shake off the nasty bug that had sidelined her.
But while the update was meant to reassure fans, it had the opposite effect. Within hours, social media was flooded with speculation that Vicky might be pulling out of the competition altogether.
Yesterday, she took to Instagram once again, this time to set the record straight. Sharing a smiling selfie alongside Kai, she wrote:
“There seems to have been a bit of a miscommunication! @kaiwidd was poorly earlier on in the week and I wasn’t 110% so we had to pull out of our weekly appearance on It Takes Two... that’s it.”
She continued, making her position crystal clear:

“I have NOT dropped out of Strictly! I’m having a lovely time and really grateful for this experience! Plus, Kai is feeling better now so we’re back in the rehearsal room AND back on It Takes Two tonight... just thought I’d clear that up.”
Fans flooded the comments with relief, praising the pair’s commitment and sending well wishes for their recovery. “You’re smashing it, Vicky, can’t wait to see your Charleston!” one fan wrote, while another added, “Don’t scare us like that again!”
Vicky and Kai are set to perform a Charleston to “A Little Party Never Killed Nobody” from The Great Gatsby for this weekend’s Movie Week, promising a glitzy, high-energy performance full of vintage flair and Gatsby glamour.
Meanwhile, the full lineup for Movie Week has been revealed, and it’s shaping up to be one of the most exciting weekends of the series so far. From Ellie and Vito’s Samba to Barbie’s “Dance The Night” to Chris and Nadia’s Paso Doble to Guns N’ Roses’ “Sweet Child O’ Mine”, fans are in for a cinematic spectacular.
As for Vicky, she’s back, she’s fighting fit, and she’s ready to prove that “a little party never killed nobody.”
