Swansea City FC: Snoop Dogg Buys a Slice of Welsh Football Club

The hip-hop legend, who has never been shy about his love of “the beautiful game,” said Swansea’s proud heritage and underdog status “struck a chord” with him, and he’s eager to help the south Wales side in their bid to return to the Premier League.

The move follows Croatian superstar Luka Modric acquiring a stake in the club in April, and comes after last November’s takeover led by American businessmen Brett Cravatt and Jason Cohen.

Speaking about his decision to back the Swans, Snoop said:
"My love of football is well known, but it feels special to me that I make my move into club ownership with Swansea City. The story of the club and the area really struck a chord with me. This is a proud, working class city and club. An underdog that bites back, just like me."

The 52-year-old rapper and entrepreneur had previously expressed an interest in investing in Scottish giants Celtic, even hinting at talks in the past, but his focus now appears firmly on the Liberty Stadium. He added: "I’ve always respected people who grind, who come from nothing and fight their way up, that’s Swansea."

The announcement sparked a flurry of reactions from fans on social media, many surprised but optimistic about what a figure like Snoop could bring to the club. One fan joked: "Can’t wait for half-time shows with Gin and Juice at the Liberty," while another posted: "Never thought I’d see Snoop Dogg and Swansea City in the same sentence, but welcome to the Jack Army!"

Swansea’s management welcomed the move, saying: "We’re excited to welcome Snoop Dogg to the Swansea City family. His enthusiasm and passion for the club’s ethos make him a natural fit, and we look forward to working together to achieve great things for our supporters and our city."

Snoop’s latest business venture reflects the growing trend of celebrities investing in football clubs, following the likes of Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney’s high-profile takeover of Wrexham, and NBA star LeBron James’s involvement at Liverpool.

For Swansea City, the mission is clear: build on the club’s proud history and fight their way back into the Premier League. And with Snoop Dogg now among the owners, the Swans may just have added a little West Coast swagger to help them soar once again.
