Global superstar Taylor Swift has once again shown her heart of gold, donating an incredible $100,000 (£74,500) to a young fan battling a rare and aggressive form of brain cancer.
The donation was made to a GoFundMe campaign created by Katelynn Smoot, the mother of eight-year-old Lilah, who began chemotherapy in March after being diagnosed earlier this year.
Lilah’s story began spreading on social media after her mother shared a series of TikTok videos showing her daughter joyfully dancing to Taylor Swift’s “The Fate of Ophelia” video. In one touching clip, Lilah points to the screen and proudly says, “That’s my friend!”, a moment that quickly captured the hearts of Swifties around the world.
On Friday, the family received the shock of a lifetime when a $100,000 donation appeared on their fundraising page, accompanied by a heartfelt message that read:
“Sending the biggest hug to my friend, Lilah! Love, Taylor.” 💖
Fans were quick to notice the contribution and confirm that the donation had indeed come from the Anti-Hero singer herself, whose history of quiet acts of generosity is well-documented.
Katelynn later shared an emotional update on social media, expressing her gratitude for the star’s kindness. “I’m absolutely speechless,” she wrote. “Taylor Swift just changed our lives. Lilah is her biggest fan, and to know that Taylor saw her videos and cared enough to do this, it means more than words can say.”
The GoFundMe campaign, which initially had a goal of $100,000, has since soared past $218,000 thanks to Swift’s involvement and the flood of donations that followed. Many of Taylor’s fans began contributing $13 each, a symbolic number that has long been associated with the singer.
