Tom Holland has been rushed to hospital following a serious on-set accident during the filming of Spider-Man: Brand New Day. The incident occurred on Friday at Leavesden Studios in Watford, where the £150 million Marvel blockbuster is currently being shot.
According to reports, the 28-year-old actor suffered a fall while performing a stunt sequence, cracking his head and sustaining a concussion. Filming was immediately suspended as Holland was taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Marvel has since confirmed that production on the highly anticipated movie, the fourth Spider-Man film led by Holland, will now be paused for several weeks while the star recovers.
This is a major setback for the production, which was already working on a tight schedule. Earlier this year, Spider-Man 4 was pushed back to July 31, 2026, to allow for script rewrites and to align with Marvel’s wider cinematic release calendar. Following this latest incident, insiders have suggested that the release date could face further delays.
Tom’s father, author and broadcaster Dominic Holland, attended a charity dinner in Mayfair on Sunday and gave fans an update on his son’s condition. He confirmed that Tom would be “away from filming for a while,” though he did not go into specific medical details.
Tom himself was reportedly in attendance at the same event, alongside his partner and co-star Zendaya. The pair were photographed smiling with guests and appearing in good spirits, but sources close to the couple revealed that Tom left the event early after feeling unwell.
Fans have taken to social media to express their concern for the star, sending messages of support and well-wishes for a speedy recovery. “Take all the time you need, Tom!” one fan wrote on X (formerly Twitter), while another posted: “Health comes first. We’ll wait as long as it takes for Spider-Man 4.”

Known for performing many of his own stunts, Holland has previously spoken about the physical demands of playing Spider-Man. In past interviews, he has described the action sequences as “brutal” but rewarding, and credited Marvel’s stunt team for keeping him safe.
This incident serves as a stark reminder of the risks involved in blockbuster filmmaking, even for a star as athletic and experienced as Holland.
Marvel Studios has yet to issue an official statement on when production will resume, but industry insiders say the priority is Tom’s health and full recovery before cameras start rolling again.
