I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! viewers have been buzzing this week after late arrival Tom Read Wilson stunned jungle fans with what many have called his “extremely posh” and “unexpectedly theatrical” accent. Now, his mother has stepped forward to clear up exactly why the Celebs Go Dating favourite sounds the way he does, and it turns out, it’s all perfectly natural.
Tom, who joined the camp as a late addition alongside Vogue Williams, has been quick to win over fans with his charm, gentleness, and willingness to dive headfirst into Bushtucker Trials. As one of this year’s Bush Chiefs, the 38-year-old has impressed viewers with his warm leadership style, emotional intelligence, and sunny outlook on camp life. But it’s his elegant speech and vast vocabulary that have dominated conversation online.
After clips of Tom confidently addressing the camp in his rich, crisp voice spread across social media, thousands of fans took to X and Instagram wondering if the star was “putting it on for the cameras”, or if this was genuinely how he spoke in everyday life.
Now, his proud mum, Juliette Cheeseman, has put the speculation to rest in an interview with the Daily Mail.
“He’s very articulate. He was born with a dictionary in his mouth,” she explained, adding that Tom’s eloquence has been present since childhood.
“His father is an English teacher, so that’s where he gets it from. He doesn’t get it from me, unfortunately.”

Juliette went on to say that Tom’s vocabulary has always been remarkably advanced, so much so that even she has found herself occasionally bewildered by her son’s word choices.
“Sometimes I don’t understand what he says! But it’s good.”
Beyond the accent talk, Tom’s mum said she has been moved by how well he has adapted to life in the jungle, especially when faced with high-pressure challenges.
“He’s just surpassed all my expectations. He’s doing so well,” she said, adding that she is thrilled to see the nation getting to know the “real Tom”, especially those who hadn’t followed his career before I’m A Celebrity.
“I’ve enjoyed seeing his personality and people starting to see the real Tom… I just think he’s really coming across well.”
Juliette also confessed that even she didn’t know quite how brave her son could be. Tom’s recent spine-tingling snake trial, which left many viewers with their hands over their eyes, particularly impressed her.
“That thing with the snakes, that was just very brave,” she admitted.
“I did deep down know he was quite courageous.”
Meanwhile, inside the camp, Tom’s fellow celebrities have embraced him wholeheartedly. His kindness, emotional warmth, and quirky personality have made him one of the breakout stars of the season, and his accent has only added to his irresistible charm.
Fans continue to praise the star online, with many calling him “a national treasure in the making” and “one of the loveliest celebs ever to enter the jungle”.
With I’m A Celebrity continuing to pull in huge audiences and Tom now firmly in the public eye, it looks like the nation’s fascination with both his accent and his character is far from over.
