Following the huge success and emotional resonance of the debut run earlier this year, the show will return in 2026 with an extended seven-part series, featuring a brand-new line-up of high-profile guests, including, for the first time, a major Hollywood star among the interviewees.
A source close to the production told the Mirror: “Bosses are thrilled that not only is there a second series, but that they can do more episodes this time around, too. The appetite for this show has been huge. With so many ideas for celebrities to take part, it needed to come back with a longer run. The calibre of names being discussed is really impressive, it’s looking like there could be a big Hollywood name in the mix.”
The Assembly has been widely praised for its unique format, which sees a panel of autistic, neurodivergent, and learning disabled people conduct unfiltered, deeply personal interviews with some of the UK’s biggest household names. The raw honesty of the questions, and the disarming warmth of the panel, struck a chord with viewers and critics alike.
Series one saw some of Britain’s most beloved stars, including Danny Dyer, Gary Lineker, and David Tennant, open up like never before, with each of them visibly moved by the experience. Danny was even left in tears as he reflected on his life and career during his emotional sit-down with the group, while Lineker and Tennant both described the experience as “humbling” and “one of the most honest interviews” they’d ever done.
One critic hailed the series as “the most groundbreaking TV show of the year,” and its warm reception on social media helped cement its reputation as a bold and important piece of television.
