Get ready to meet everyone’s favourite marmalade-loving bear like never before, McFly’s Tom Fletcher is taking Paddington Bear to the stage in a brand-new musical set to open this autumn in London’s West End.
The brand-new production, titled simply Paddington: The Musical, will make its grand debut on November 1 at the Savoy Theatre, bringing to life the heartwarming tale of the Peruvian bear’s journey to London in search of a new home. Based on Michael Bond’s beloved novels, the musical also draws inspiration from the much-loved film trilogy and animated television series, both of which have introduced Paddington to a new generation of fans.

Tom Fletcher, who has long showcased his songwriting talents through McFly and a series of bestselling children’s books, announced the project with immense pride, calling the score “my favourite songs I’ve ever written.” He has collaborated on the show with scriptwriter Jessica Swale and director Luke Sheppard, promising a production full of “fun, warmth and heart.”
Fletcher expressed his excitement in a heartfelt statement:
“There is something so magical about seeing Paddington step out onto the stage, and seeing him… I was about to say in the flesh, but I guess ‘in the fur’ is more accurate.”
He added that he feels “so honoured and lucky” to be part of a project that brings such a beloved character to life in a whole new way. With a legacy that spans over six decades, Paddington Bear has become a treasured figure in British culture, a symbol of kindness, curiosity, and the importance of always carrying an extra sandwich.
While full casting has yet to be announced, anticipation is already building, with fans eager to see how the iconic bear, the Brown family, and the chaos that often follows Paddington will translate to the musical stage.
