A fire broke out yesterday, Wednesday, in Los Cristianos, in the south of Tenerife, completely destroying a campervan and causing damage to two nearby vehicles.
The incident, which took place in a residential area, triggered a large emergency response and alarmed local residents.
A thick column of black smoke could be seen from a considerable distance, prompting numerous calls to the emergency services. Sirens from approaching emergency vehicles soon filled the air as residents gathered at a safe distance to watch the incident unfold.
The Local Police from Arona were the first to arrive and quickly secured the area, blocking access to both vehicles and pedestrians while awaiting the arrival of fire crews. Firefighters reached the scene shortly afterwards and acted swiftly to contain the flames.
Wearing breathing apparatus and using high-pressure hoses, the fire crew managed to bring the blaze under control within minutes. The rapid response prevented the flames from spreading further, although a nearby motorbike and a parked car were also affected, sustaining varying degrees of damage.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and the incident resulted solely in material losses. The cause of the fire has not yet been officially confirmed, and an investigation is expected to be launched to determine how it started.
